Tickitto Docs

Overview

An event describes a product within Tickitto's inventory, such as a concert, festival, football match, or a museum.

Each event has a unique event_id and is associated with parameters that provide descriptions, entry notes, event images, venues, and geo-locations. An event will typically have one or more availability instance.

An instance is a single occurrence of that event at a specific date and time.

For example, Moulin Rouge is an event that occurs at 14:30 and 19:30 from Monday to Saturday for the next upcoming 12 months. In this example, an availability instance would be Saturday, 19th January 2021, at 19:30.

Event Admission Types:

Events across different categories or genres can have different attendee admission processes, so the Tickitto inventory has been structured around four key admission types.

Open Entry

Definition: An event ticket with an open_entry admission type guarantees entry without needing to select a date or a time.

The tickets would be valid for admission from the date the ticket buyer purchases the ticket until the expiry date of that ticket. The tickets must be used within the validity period specified by the event organizer or supplier.

The ticket's valid use period would usually be detailed in the entry_notes of the event schema.

Tickitto'sTicket Selection Widget renders the relevant UI for events with admission_type: "open_entry"*

Example: A theme park ticket with a six-month validity window bought on the 1st of Jan 2021 entitles the ticket buyer to admission any one time from the 1st of Jan 2021 until the 1st of June 2021.

Date Entry

Definition: An event ticket with a date_entry admission type guarantees admission on a specific date. Here, only the selection of a calendar date is required.

Tickitto's Ticket Selection Widget renders the relevant UI for events with admission_type:* date_entry

Example: A ticket to an Exhibition bought for the 8th of Aug 2021 entitles the ticket buyer to admission any time during the selected calendar date.

Slot Entry

Definition:

An event ticket with a slot_entry admission type guarantees entry on a specific date, beginning any time from the start time until the end time of that chosen slot.

Therefore the selection of a calendar date and a time slot is required.

Tickitto's Ticket Selection Widget renders the relevant UI for events with admission_type: "slot_entry"*

For some events or experiences, the ticket buyer may be required to arrive on the day, 15, or 30 minutes before their chosen slot. This would usually be specified in the entry_notes field of the event schema.

Example: A ticket to a zoo bought for the 4th of Jun 2021 for the morning slot of 10:00 - 14:00 entitles the buyer to admission any time from 10:00 onwards. The buyer must leave the zoo by 14:00.

Timed Entry

Definition: An event with a timed_entry admission type guarantees entry on a specific date and time.

For some events or experiences, the ticket buyer may be required to arrive 30 or 45 minutes before the start time. This would usually be specified in the entry_notes field of that event.

This admission type is further broken down into two sub-types:

  • Assigned seating: these are events whereby each ticket buyer is assigned a specific seat in the venue at the time of purchase. Seats are typically identified by row number/letter, seat number, and sometimes by block section.

Therefore the selection of a date, time and seat or block section is required.

Tickitto's Ticket Selection Widget renders the relevant seat plan, calendar and time selection UI for those events.*

    Example:

    • A ticket to a West End theatre performance bought for the 8th of Aug 2021 entitles the buyer to admission at 18:00 for the assigned seat in Block C, Row 5, Seat number 18.
  • No assigned seating: these are events whereby the venue in itself is seat-less or, the seats are assigned on the date of the event purely on a first-come, first-serve basis. Therefore only the selection of a date and time is required.

Tickitto's Ticket Selection Widget renders the relevant calendar and time selection UI for those events.*

    Example:

    • A ticket to an outdoor music festival purchased for the 8th of Aug 2021 entitles the buyer to admission at 18:00 where all ticket holders would experience the event whilst standing.

    • A ticket to a 1 hour guided tour of a museum for the 8th of Aug 2021 at 11:00.
